I went to an Aussie Rules football game tonight and it was pretty sweet!! It was the Brisbane Lions against the Adelaide Power(weird name) the lions lost....they pretty much sucked ass but came through at the end. They were once down by 7 goals but in the last quarter they actually tied the game...but still lost. Ahh well, it was still a ton of fun to watch! And drunk Aussies are pretty damn funny:) This stadium doesn't have any parking, so you need to catch a bus to get to it. Brisbane has a pretty good public transport, and it was free to take. But on the way back we almost started a riot at the bus stop. We were waiting in the line for the bus and it was pretty damn long, a big group of people were pretending to not know what to do and cut the line...but the transit lady was the one that actually let them cut ahead. Well the drunk dude next to us didn't take to kindly to it, nor were the tens of other sober people that actually waited as well. There was a bit of shouting and funny names called but, they still got away with it:) ahh well, shit happens:) The drunk dude ended up standing behind me on the bus and we continued to have a go at the other people and of course the fans from the other team that were on the bus. Man it was great fun:) The bus ride home was nearly as fun as the game:) I now understand the rules to the game a bit and it puts american football to shame, well...actually come to think of it, what game doesn't put american football to shame? :) Come on now, a bunch of fat dudes running around in tights with the play lasting maybe 6 seconds but taking 3 minutes to set up...the only game where 5 mintues last 20:) You guys should check out an Aussie rules game, or a rugby game. The Aussies just had a surprising win over the kiwi's in the tri nations cup(they weren't expected to win and at half time were down 15-6) s that was a pretty cool win tonight. And later this week it's the final game of the State of Origin. Queensland has won the first 2...man the last match was freaking awesome shoot the last 2 minutes of the game were just amazing! Ah well, you guys don't want to hear about sports:) It's just a bit weird that I'm enjoying them over here:)
I sent off a bunch of resumes to the mining companies and it is looking pretty good that I'll be getting a job as a geologist or environmental rep. That's pretty sweet...if it all works out. I have only heard back from one of the diving companies, and that was just to let me know that they didn't have any openings:)

Drill this weekend :)
Well, this weekend I had drill.....unfortunately I thought it was this one coming up:) So Friday morning I'm laying in bed and get this phone call, just before 07. Who the hell would be calling me this early in the morning??? "oh, hey Sergeant, what's up" "Hey Sgt. Huybregts, I was just wondering where everyone is at this morning?" what do you mean this morning, I thought drill was next weekend I replied. "No, it's today" "crap, I'll be there as soon as I can" The thing is that we went down to the border for 3 days, so I had to run around a collect all my crap for a 3 day trip. Fortunately, they haven't issued me anything, so I didn't have to pack much:) And this is an Engineer Unit, not a Cavalary one, so they like to stay in barracks and "wussy" stuff like that:) Which of course, I don't mind at all:) I get to the unit just under 2hrs late:) I didn't get into trouble, an honest mistake. All the other drills we get called during the week to remind us, they didn't do it last week. Ahh well, no worries:)
Drill was pretty fun, except for the drive down to San Diego. We had one army truck with us and it's top speed was 55mph....it was a very very long drive:) And then one of our guys has a small bladder so we had to make a couple extra stops along the way:) We stayed on the navy base down there, don't know which one. Our mission was right near the border though. We could see that Huge Mexican flag at the crossing, and then some giant arch thing that's supposed to be where all the night life is at? We had to build a concrete wall for a loading ramp...that almost happened:) The ditch was supposed to have been dug by their best man and was supposed to be perfectly level and to specs....well we all know what's supposed to happen and what actually happens tend to be different stories:) We spent the whole day going back and forth trying to correct the mistakes and trying to get our part done at least. We were able to get the rebar put in and set up and built it to the correct height. It wasn't a huge project, just 39feet long and 1 foot wide, with a T just 10foot long. It was pretty frustating though. Oh, this part needs to be brought up 3 inches, and this part need to be lowered 6 inches. And since it's just a giant "wire" frame, it's not solid, so it was always wiggeling and bending. We managed to get it in straight though. The only thing we weren't able to do was put in the "forms" the walls to keep the concrete in place. They are just going to put in the "footing"(the base of the wall) and make that level, the set the forms on that to get the walls to the correct height. It's amazing how easy it would have been if the trench was actually level. It was pretty fun still though. We only have 12 people left in our unit and we work pretty well together, everyone actually worked. That was nice.
I went running this morning, that was very nice. I saw something pretty interesting, no no hot chicks this morning:) There was a hawk sitting on one of the people patio's....on top of their bird cages:) I guess he was looking for some breakfast but couldn't get in the cage:)

End of Oct??????
Holy crap, it's the end of Oct already:) Let's see.....don't know where to start:)
Army crap:) We had drill the other week and I got to drive this big ass crane thingy, yes, that's the technical term for it and I'm sticking to it:) It's called a Hy-Ex(Hydrolic Extender) a giant hole digger:) You see them when they are tearing up the road, most of them are built by CAT, big yellow ones. They are going to let me dig a hole at the border for our next drill, sometime next month. We're doing a 3 day drill, fri till sun(yeah, I'm still trying to figure out when 1 weekend a month included thur's and fridays?? :) ) but we're going to built a large loading ramp for the border patrol mission. We only have 6 people in our unit, and no one is trained to use any of this equipment:) I'm the only one brave enough, or dumb enough to use this thing, yeah, someone is definitely going ot loose an arm or leg....good thing I'll be inside it:) That should be a lot of fun. I was getting pretty good useing the bucket/scoop thing. I was able to pick up coke cans without crushing them(the can was sitting on a small block of wood 4"x4", and I was able to grab the block of wood and pick it up and move it, with the can still on it...I won a ten dollar bet for it too:) ) I'm pretty confident with my 45minuts of training:) It should be fun and we're finaly going to do a realworld mission. Not just sitting around the armoury all day. We drove the dump trucks again as well, that's pretty fun to. I was noticeing how much my belly jiggled in the truck:) Gotta lay off them Ding dong's and Ho Ho's :)
This weekend is the MuddyBuddy, in San Dimas(San Dimas High school football rules!!!!, those of you versed in Bill and Ted's movie's know what I"m talking about:) ) MY bro and his wife are coming down as well, and Jordan is going to be my buddy for it. It's a team bi-athlon. Mountain biking and running...with a giant mud pit at the end and 5 obsticals during it....and most importantly, a Beer tent at the end of the course and free beer for the competitors:) Yeah, the logic baffles me too:) Going to bust your ass doing this marathon thingy, and pretty much do probably the worst thing to your body after it??? ahh well, we only live once:)
Speaking of Jordan...he got one of my bikes stolen this weekend:( He thought that hiding a nice bike in the bushes was a great way to secure it. The ironic part was that prior going to the party, he had to wait on his friend, to steal their own bike(which was then also stolen with my bike) This is in Isla Vista, the town where all the college kids for UCSB live. Jordan lived there for a year and knows full well how prevelant bike theft is there. This bike was with me around the world, from New Mexico to Germany and Washington to Long Beach...shit happens:)
I'm learning all sorts of interesting things in my English class, not much about english though:) I think it might be a Critical thinking class though, that would make our course make more sense. It's just all sorts of interesting things about our Common Culture and how Corporations and company's manipulate american society. And crazy facts like, between 1890 and 1910, after the 14th amendment passed in the late 60's( I think?) the 14th amendment states:
"Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
there were 307 civil rights cases in the supreme court 288 were from Corporations, and only 19 were from black males(from the film, "The Corporation") That just is not right. There's all sorts of other cool things I'm learning about in my English class, my History class I'm learning some "interesting" things as well, like how hypocritical some of our more prominant founding fathers were, and how messed up we treated people. It's a good thing that we can correct our mistakes(well Thomas Jefferson didn't he kept his slaves till he died, and didn't even have provisions to release them after he bit the dust. Here's one of the biggest fighters for equality of man, but yet never released his slaves?), most of the time the hardest lessons are the best learned, though I believe we are still learning from them. I'm also learning cool things in my math class, but they are definately to difficult to explain on the net:) and probably a lot more boring too:)
I Dove a couple times with the Sea Center last week. One of the days we did a "Live Dive" where myself and William(the centers aquarist) go down and do a dive for the visitors. We have one mask that is able to communicate with the people up top and then a camera. I worked the camera and William did the talking:) This was our first time, and we kicked butt with it. Everyone up top was impressed with how well we did, especialy since we can't communicate with each other:) I was able to "understand" him pretty well and did a good job with filming what he was talking about(I don't even have a screen to see what I'm videoing:) ) then on Fri, we did a collection dive for the center, again it was with William and I. He collected a hole buttload of Sea Urchins and Keyhole Limpits. I was able to get a Leather Star, it's between the looks of a Bat star and regular star, but really soft. It was just a little baby to, so it's pretty dang cute:) I also cought a lobster:) Unfortunately it was a legal one:( It was the first lobster I've cought, and I couldn't even eat him:) William wanted a non legal size(he has a collection permit that allows him to collect animals for the center, so he has different rules) for the centers next exhibit, next summer"Crustacions" So I did a good job on my first collection dive as well, Hell yeah:)
My Jeep is finaly fixed, I think:) I got a crack in the windshield the other day. Some jerk pulled out in front of me on the freeway and then wasn't paying attention, went of the road for a few seconds and one of the rocks he flung up hit my windshield and craked it, it's only the size of a dime, but is all spider webby. My insurance company is coming out today to fix it though. You guys are going to Love my personalized license plate "DEDSEXI" hell yeah:) I wish they'd hurry up and send it to me already:)
While we're on the topic of Dead Sexy, I'm still Dead sexy as ever:) I need to find some more black shirts though, I'm Beyond Dead Sexy in Black:) I better be careful though, I might get arrested for being Too Sexy for Society:)

For Jake...
Yesterday was the 2 year anniversary for Jake. It still seems like it was just last week we were roasting our asses off in the Iraqi heat. God Speed man, God Speed...

Yes, I'm still alive:) Just been busier then heck. The past couple weeks, the army has got me going all over the damn place, running all sorts of missions:) The first week of Sep and a little more, they had me go to LAX for the added security for 9/11. That was an interesting mission...we'll just leave it at that:)
School has started again, and my classes are going well so far, that's a good thing:) I'm taking Math, History and English this semester, an easier math since I was sucking big time on the next level up:) It's amazing what you forget in 6 years:) I'm my first math quiz, I got 18 out of 20 correct...might have gotten 20, but failed my attention to detail:) misread the question:) That makes me feel pretty good though, no, not the attention to detail part:) I have to write some papers for english class, I will post those up here when I get them done, hopefuly for you to enjoy:) All in all, school is going well so far.
One of my friends from class introduced me to something pretty cool, called Geocacheing. Basicly a treasure hunt type deal:) You get some coordinates online, then put them in your GPS and go looking for it. I've found 2 so far:) It's pretty fun, and you get to look all over the dang place for them. People set them up with different sizes, one of them was in a log, in a cream cheese container and the other was in an ammo can burried(is that spelled right? :) ) in some bushes. This sun I will go up the 7falls trail and look for the one up there, it's in something about the size of a 35mm film canister(for those of you who don't know how big that is, due to the Digital age, about the size of a 50count advil container:) ) That should be a pain in the ass to find, but fun.
Jordan's goofy ass finaly decided to remove his head from his ass and move back in with me. He was supposed to move in with Sara, but they never found a place to move to....well, didn't really start looking for a place to live until the week school started. So they have been living in her backyard in a tent????? Sara's place burnt down 15 june, and she still hasn't found a place to live yet...ummm yeah. So Jordan is moving back in. It kinda sucks, since he kept farting around and not deciding,I thought he was just going to stick it out with her this semester. I was looking forward to finaly having my place to myself again. It was funny, I told him last night to come get his shit, that's when he decided to move back in. It was very frustrating, not knowing whether he was coming back or not. I know now at least:) He's still the best roomate I've ever had though. We never get in each other's way and always have fun talking shit to each other. I'm not sure the neighbours are going to appreciate him coming back again:) Our walls are paper thin, and you can hear converstations on the sidewalk:) We have interesting convo's and definately our morning "who can let the loudest ripper out" competition, though technicaly not socialy acceptable, is just down right hilarious:) Good times shall be had.
I had almost started a new job, working at the SB airport, until the army called me to go work at LAX...kinda funny:) But I will be going back to these guys shortly. I just need to get my study habits straight and on par before I take on the job...we all know how easily distracted I get:) I will be refueling the planes that come in. Opera has her plane at our hangar, it's also the same one the Micheal Jackson got arrested in:) Woo hoo:) but as I found out to my horrible dismay, we also have to do the Lav duties as well, that's some shit, literally. They didn't mention that in the job description...I had enough of those types of duties with the army. That blows, but it still pays a bit more then what I could have made a as Lead for CompUsa....that's just crazy. And with this job, I get to cruise around an airfield in a gocart....or a truckload of fuel....Hell yeah baby:) So if you happen to see in the news anything about the SB airport catching fire for some reason, it WASN'T ME :)

Finally some Photo's :)
So I finaly posted some pics I've taken over the past few months:) I will get to writing caption's to them here shortly, but at least you get to look at them:) I even put them in sub-folders...wow, pretty nifty eh:) It's only in the Santa Barbara folder though, but it should make things a bit easier when trying to find pics.....hopefully:)
Well, Wednesday night is Trivia night, so hopefully we will win at least a free round of drinks or something. Every Wednesday a small group of us goes to "Cooney's" for trivia night. It's a lot of fun and pretty interesting seeing how much "smarter" you get after a couple drinks:) I think the pub is changing owners or the name of it or something though, so hopefuly it's still going on tonight:)

Surfing lesson, some hike's and a Concert:)
A couple mondays ago, I took a surfing lesson. It was pretty sweet:) I used a board the instructor provided, one of those "foam Boards" It's like a really strong styrafoam. So it's really floaty, but not manuverable at all. I caught a few waves with it though, that was pretty sweet:) I still need to work on the landings. Haveing to fall off of something to stop, for some reason just doesn't make to much sense:) Now, I can fall off of it no worries, trying to catch a wave, or standing up....but haveint to at the end of your run, that's just silly:) I need to remember I should fall with more then a few inches of water left as well, I was just so happy I lasted so long on the waves:) Didn't really think much about the ending:) It was still a blast though. I have my own boards, one of my buddies hooked me up with it. It's a few inches shorter then the one the instructor trained me on, it's amazing the difference in ease there is. I haven't been able to get up fully on my board yet, I just need some good waves for it:)
I've went on a few hikes up into the hills. There's an awesome trail, 7 falls, that runs up one of the creeks. It's pretty neet, since there's water the whole year, on most of it at least:) There's a couple areas where the water pools up, and some sweet small waterfalls. on two of them you can use it as a slide:) That should be a lot of fun:) We wussed out the 2 times we've been, the sun wasn't out, and the water is just a tad bit cold:) We did sit in the pool for a little bit though, that was pretty nice. We had a snake hanging out in the water with us for a little while, and they have some pretty cool Salamander's in the water out here...plus tons of PollyWoggs(that name is soo cool:) ), tadpoles. There were a few other hikers up there as well, then a bunch of knuckle head college boys running around jumping off of everything possible...that was a lot of fun to watch:) They were having a great time and trying to record each other's feat's. Of course making way to much noise. That's alright though, they didn't hang out to long and hey, they are allowed to have their fun to right? :)

I went to the "Matisyahu" concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl last night. That was a pretty cool show. For those of you that don't know:) He's a pretty traditional Jewish dude, that totaly loved Bob Marely when he grew up. It's pretty interesting to see him all dressed up in the traditional outfit, but sing reggae with the accent and all:) We ended up liking the opening band a little bit more then him though. Some independent label "Michael Franti& Spearhead" I liked their style of reggae a lot more. We had tickets for the Pit section, so we were waayyy up front about 5 people fromt he stage, that was pretty cool. People were smoking pot something fierce, eh...what can you expect from a Reggae concert(though they did it a lot as well for the Weezer concert as well:) ) :) All in all it was a good night and good music.
